MODESTO — A career night from Drew Sena was not enough for East Union on Tuesday, as Gregori took over in the second half en route to a 68-57 win.
Sena splashed down four 3-pointers on his way to a game-high 31 points, while Blake Greenlee added 19 for the Lancers (2-6). Three other players combined for seven points.
“He was very aggressive offensively and did a lot of good things for us,” East Union coach Ryan Tarr said of Sena. “We rely on him to get our offensive going. He usually does a better job of facilitating, but he hit a couple threes in the first quarter and that got him going.”
Sena’s hot start helped the Lancers build a 27-23 lead, but they were ultimately outmatched in the post by Gregori’s size.
“Our effort and intensity were great on the defensive end,” Tarr said of his team’s first half. “We were holding them to one shot and getting stops, we just didn’t put it together for 32 minutes. Rebounding was a big problem; they had a lot of offensive rebounds in the second half.”
The Jaguars improved to 5-1. East Union hosts Inderkum and Patterson next week.

West 62, Sierra 52
Both teams drained eight 3-pointers, but the visiting Wolf Pack (5-2) from Tracy got the upper hand behind a 20-point outburst from 6-foot-4 guard Michael Hayes.
Jaime Ochoa made three 3s for Sierra (2-4) and finished with 15 points. Jaylen Jackson and John Elijah added eight apiece.

Liberty Ranch 87, Ripon 44
GALT — Ripon (3-4) trailed by just five late in the second quarter, but the undefeated Hawks (6-0) exploded from there with help from their relentless defensive pressure.
Liberty Ranch scored 29 points in the second period to take a commanding 44-26 lead into halftime, then went on a 26-4 run in the third. Sophomore guard Jaken Patterson led the way with 26 points.
Vincent Olmo paced the Indians with 16 points.
