If you missed the big arts and crafts sale at the MRPS Hall earlier this month, you’re in luck. There’s another happening today at the hall located in downtown Manteca. The group of vendors is calling this event, “Tis the Season to Shop Local.”
The bad news is, this is a one-day event only and will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Even more reason to get there as quickly as possible to get the best deals.
The good news is, there is a wide selection of handcrafted holiday decoration and gift items, plus an array of gift ideas for those who are still looking for the perfect present for a special loved one.
Below are just two sample selections that visitors can expect from the dozen vendors who are displaying their unique wares:
uHandmade wreathes by Beth Machado Dias. “I specialize in rustic-style burlap wreaths,” she says. She is offering about two-dozen on display; however, she “will be open to making special order(s).”
uLipSense products by SeneGence. Amelia Teicheira and Corrine Andre state that this is the “perfect time to get last-minute gifts and LipSense is the perfect stocking stuffer.” The selections include “waterproof, kiss-proof, smudge-proof” lipstick which “last up to 18 hours.” Teicheira and Andre are hosting this one-day shopping experience.
Making a special appearance throughout the event will be Santa Claus. Organizers are inviting parents to bring their children to visit Santa and have souvenir Christmas pictures taken with the man from the North Pole. They are also encouraging visitors to “shop our local small businesses” at the same time while they are in the city’s commercial district.
Teicheira said she and friend Andre “created (this) crafts event at the MRPS since we couldn’t attend the one the MRPS puts on,” referring to the annual crafts held about two weeks ago. Teicheira said she was in Disneyland during the weekend happening.
She added that she and her group were not worried about a repeat of what happened at the earlier MRPS crafts fair when burglars broke into the building and stole many of the vendors’ sale items the night before the opening day.
They did not leave anything overnight because they set up this morning starting at 8:30 a.m. “Then we’re done at 2 p.m., so we aren’t worried because we will be (here) the whole time,” Teicheira said.
The MRPS Hall is located on Grant Street in downtown Manteca, just a block north of Yosemite Avenue. For additional information, log on to the group’s website on Facebook, Tis the Season To Shop Local.
