Coming soon: The Manteca Raiders.
This new youth football and cheer program sporting the Silver and Black is looking to make its debut for the 2018 season. It’s the sixth such youth organization in town, joining the Manteca Cowboys, Manteca Chargers, Manteca Jr. Timberwolves (formerly the Delta Rebels), Manteca Jr. Buffaloes and Manteca Jaguars.
The Manteca Raiders are “establishing something different in the community,” said President Fred Ramirez.
“We believe in putting the time and effort into what’s important in our community – our kids,” he added. “Our core values of safety, discipline, fundamentals, and hard work will be the foundation of our program.”
Laura (Vieira) Saunders of Ray of Hope children’s services was instrumental in creating the program.
“Not only does this team have the potential to draw a lot of kids but it’s also a platform for setting a standard and raising the bar high among the youth organizations,” she said.
The Raiders will be in the Cen-Cal Youth Football, consisting of the Jr. Buffaloes, Atwater Falcons, Central Valley 49ers, Ceres Seahawks, Livingston Wolves and Los Banos Wildcats, to name a few.
Signups for the Raiders will take place on Friday, Jan. 5, at Straw Hat Pizza, 1238 N. Main St., from 7 to 9 p.m.
The organization is inviting the public to come by during this time to meet the coaches and board of the newly-formed program.
