The effort to revamp Ripon High’s football stadium is moving ahead
Crews Tuesday started tearing down the old wooden press box on the north end of the field. The bleachers are also being removed.
Next up is replacing the bleachers and press box. One hundred percent of that cost is being funded by the Ripon Unified School District.
“This is an important phase of the Ripon High Stadium Revitalization project with some $1.6 million being donated to stadium and campus improvements since 2007 and we will be soon kicking off our last phase to build new bathrooms and ticket booths at the new stadium entry,” noted Stephanie Hobbs, who has spearheaded the stadium revamp effort through the Ripon Community Athletic Foundation.
The replacement of the bleachers and press box will not disrupt home games for soccer. The visitors’ bleachers will still be available for use.
New visitor bleachers are on the school district’s list of future projects as soon as funding becomes available.
“The field is still ‘Stouffer Field’ and thanks to Bob Brocchini and his family the All-Weather Track’s naming rights were purchased as ‘Ripon High Track’,” Hobbs noted.
