RIPON — Ripon Christian isn’t giving up the crown that easily.
Coming off a disappointing 1-1 tie against Orestimba, the Knights rebounded with a 2-0 statement win over Mariposa on Tuesday. The visiting Grizzlies (3-1-0, 5-2) were unbeaten in Southern Athletic League play and were riding a five-game winning streak.
Thea Vandermeulen pushed Ripon Christian (3-0-1, 6-5-1) with a one-touch goal in the 38th minute. The Knights later looked to a defender to widen the gap, as 5-foot-8 sophomore Madi de Graaf beat the Mariposa defense in the air when she connected for a head shot on Rachel Oosterman’s corner-kick cross in the 58th minute.
Senior captain and defender Paige Vos did her part in preserving the shutout. The Knights welcome Waterford on Thursday.

STOCKTON — Jasmine Mejia scored four of the five first-half goals for East Union (3-0-0, 8-3-0).
Natasha Honore scored twice. Taylor Campbell, Taylor McMahon and Hailey Sims contributed one apiece.
“The field conditions made it hard to move it around, but we had possession the whole game,” East Union coach Carlos Gaspar said.
Already hampered by injuries, Weston Ranch (0-3-1, 3-10-2) ended the match with just 12 healthy players. Starting goalie Aliyah Guerrero (two saves) went down with a likely concussion early in the first half and was replaced by Judith Ramirez (eight saves).

Oakdale 8, Lathrop 2
LATHROP — Kassandra Ceja returned to action for the Spartans (0-3-1, 3-4-2) after participating in an out-of-state Olympic Development Program camp.
She scored both of Lathrop’s goals, but Lathrop is still down several other key starters.
“Every game we’re playing a different lineup on defense,” Lathrop coach Jose Montes said. “It was nice to have Kassandra back. We missed her, but she’s not the whole team. You could tell she was tired from the jet lag.”

Sierra vs. Manteca, ppd.
The anticipated VOL showdown between cross-town rivals was called off Tuesday because of poor conditions at rain-soaked Guss Schmiedt Field. The match has been rescheduled for Friday with the normal 5:45 p.m. start time.
Manteca (2-0, 10-3) next hosts Lathrop on Thursday, while Sierra (3-0, 12-0-1) gets a stiff test at Central Catholic.
