The Astros improved their chances of securing a District 67 Tournament of Champions berth by taking an instant 8-0 lead, but held off a determined White Sox group for a 9-6 Northgate Little League major division title-clinching win.

The Astros took advantage of suspect White Sox defense, scoring two runs in the top of the first and extending their lead in the second inning when they pushed across a half dozen.

The White Sox showed the courage of champions, responding with three runs in the third and would add a run in each of the final three frames to cut a substantial Astros lead to three heading into their final at bat.

After getting a tremendous effort from starting pitcher Taylor Clark, the White Sox turned to their relievers to hold the White Sox off the scoreboard. After the White Sox scratched a run off of reliever Jordan Eakes, the White Sox turned to Joe Bothelio who included a harmless pop-up to end the game.

Trevor Baum stroked a huge RBI single to help break the game open for the Astros and came around to score twice in the championship. Astros starting pitcher Clark helped his cause, going 3 for 4 and scoring twice, while teammate Bothelio finished the game 2 for 3 with a pair of doubles and a walk.

Marcus Rivas did all he could do in defeat, trying to start a White Sox rally by starting off the bottom of the sixth with a base hit. Nolan Prado hit a homerun for the White Sox, and Adam Ramirez paced the club, going 2 for 2 and getting hit by a pitch.

The Astros will be a part of a bracket that includes the major division champions from Lathrop, Manteca, Patterson, Salida, Mountain House, Tracy American, Tracy National and Weston Ranch Little Leagues for the district 67 crown.
