HUGHSON – The Ripon Sea Lions continued to excel  just as they have this entire season, outlasting the field during the Hughson Sea Dogs Invitational with a 1,258 to 966 win over the second place Tracy Tritons June 26 -27.

The Sea Lions got another strong team-wide performance, blasting four of the league’s eight teams by more than 1,000 points. The Manteca Dolphins accumulated 238 points, edging out the Oakdale Swim Team by 66 points.

Ripon took several meet relay victories, earning eight of the 10 victories in relay events.

Ripon’s Andrew Britton broke the league record in the 100 Individual Medley, winning the 9-10 boys division with a time of 1:13.61, breaking a 23 year old mark. Christian Britton also nabbed a record in the same event, breaking the 11-12 boys mark by a full second. Andrew also broke the 50-yard breast, as did Christian, finishing his heat in 36.56, shattering the old mark of 38.87 set in 1987.

The Sea Lions’ boys 9-10 200 free relay team also set in a new record in place for their event, setting a new time of 2:12.94 in the record books.

The Dolphins returned their second consecutive fifth place finish in league invitationals, asserting themselves on top of the lower-third of the league. During the Oakdale Invitational, the Dolphins were knotted in a deadlocked tie with the Oakdale squad, but were able to elevate over the Oakdale for a solo fifth place finish in Hughson.
