The public is invited to attend the 24th Annual Arts Recognition ceremony scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 23, at the Senior Center, 295 Cherry Lane in Manteca.

The social/entertainment hour is scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m., with the awards ceremony commencing at 2 p.m. Dessert and beverages will be available.

Special drawing prizes, which include original art works by local artists such as painter Tom Olson and photographer Lyn Price, will be given away to lucky guests during a special prize drawing. Award recipients must be present to win.

The theme for this year’s awards is Community of Arts. Already, several nominations have been received by the committee members for the following three award categories:

• Arts Recognition (own art medium),

• Special Recognition Award (community involvement for arts in general), and,

• Artist of the Year (excellence within their own art medium and activity in the art community).

The awards will be presented to the individuals who have made a difference because of their involvement in the local art community. There will also be Student Recognition awards, with cash prizes to be presented to the winning art student/s from area high schools selected from a pool of nominations.

The public will be encouraged to view a number of pieces of artwork on exhibit.

Some of the artwork on display will be offered for sale to art lovers eager to add unique items to their collection or décor.  Sunday afternoon is a perfect time to enjoy desserts, beverages, music and art.
