Four retired U.S. Army warrant officers did their part in packing Susie Beeler’s treats for troops stationed overseas recently as did members of the Manteca Federated Women’s Club and the Camellia Gardens Women’s Bible Study group.

All showed their support for the mailing of the boxes of goods during the recent “Support Our Troops Week” that were sent to Kuwait, Iran and Afghanistan.  The warrant officers presented Beeler with a check for $300 and the Manteca Federated women donated $500.

The Camellia Gardens’ group spent time in their kitchens mailing cookies and other snacks that went into the mailings.  They have been faithfully baking cookies for the last six years, Beeler said. Those also packing boxes at the Beeler home included Carol Rollois, Carolyn Hill and Dotti Thompson.

The recent shipment went out to 143 members of the U.S. armed forces.  Since the first of January there have been more than 100 boxes shipped abroad from the Ripon home each month.

The garage of the Beeler’s rural home on French Camp Road has become a beehive of activity after Beeler initiated the effort in support of the soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines more than six years ago.  She has also found support in her Manteca Soroptimist Club.
