Cowboys defense lassos four INTs

MODESTO — The Manteca Cowboys spread the wealth on offense and dominated once again on defense in their 32-6 varsity win against the Modesto Jets.

The defending National Youth Football League champion is now 2-0.

Malik Lott grinded out 50 yards and scored two touchdowns. Kashon Andrews and quarterback Chris Hocker each added a touchdown scamper from 70 and 28 yards out, respectively.

Kevin Cunningham had one of four interceptions for the Cowboys defense and returned his pick 90 yards for a touchdown. Gabe Munoz, Lott and Hocker each had an interception. LJ Alofaituli and Lott shared team-high with six tackles.

The Cowboys will return home Saturday to square off with the Modesto Raiders at Manteca High.

Junior varsity

Cowboys 38, Jets 0
Manteca broke away from a scoreless first quarter and went on a 19-point spree in the second before putting it in cruise control.

Joseph Macias helped set up Manteca’s final score in the opening half with a 27-yard interception return that was followed by Seuseu Alofaituli’s 22-yard TD rush one play later. Alofaituli ended up with seven carries for 76 yards, two touchdowns and a one-point conversion run.

Macias had a big day all around. He ended up with two interceptions, six tackles, 48 rushing yards on just two carries, and 54 yards on 2-of-3 passing.

Anthony Ochoa chipped in two touchdowns, Marcus Panelo added another with a 24-yard sprint and Baily Simons (five tackles, sack) scored a defensive touchdown off an interception.

Simons’ big play was aided by the quarterback pressure applied by Caston Parker, who led all defensive players with nine tackles and four sacks.

Rookie

Cowboys 13, Jets 6
Jake Harries trucked the load for the Cowboys, scoring all of the team’s points with two touchdowns and an extra-point conversion. He finished with 80 yards on 10 carries.

Ronald Wright added 60 yards on nine rushing attempts and was one of three (Elijah Mounger, Matthew Pilkay) Cowboys to post six tackles.

Gabrial Volluton came up with three quarterback sacks.

Starts

Cowboys 28, Jets 0
Tony Rosillo needed just eight carries to rack up 169 yards to go with one touchdown. Adam Sena contributed two touchdown scampers, and Josh Grabowski (three carries, 34 yards) added one.

Nicco Cedolini paced the defense with seven tackles and a forced fumble. Presley deMello chimed in with four tackles and a sack.
