Chuck Carpenter, Joey Ermitanio, Manuel Medeiros, Evelyn Moore, Don Scholl, Nancy Teicheira and William Van Ryn are scheduled to appear in the Manteca Educators Association’s candidate forum on Wednesday.

Each are vying for a seat on the Manteca Unified school board, with Medeiros, Moore and Teicheira serving as long-time incumbents.

The forum will begin at 5 p.m. in the East Union High cafeteria.

The campus is located at 1700 N. Union Road.

The public is invited to attend and participate in the question and answer session.

In November, voters can choose two of the three candidates – Moore, Scholl and Carpenter – for Area 5 or, for the most part, the City of Manteca.

At least one newcomer to the board will come as a result of this race.

Trustee Vern Gebhardt, who is finishing out his four-year term, opted not to run after serving just one term. He was elected to the post shortly after retiring from the district, where he served as teacher, coach and athletic director.

Ermitanio, who is listed as a school district treasurer, according to the San Joaquin County Registrar of Voters office, is another hopeful. He’ll challenge Medeiros for the Area 2 post, consisting of north Manteca, French Camp, and Lathrop.

Van Ryn is again facing off against Teicheira for the Area 4 seat made up mostly of the region south of the Highway 120 bypass.
