Ripon Christian could have took advantage of a lackluster start by the Delhi Hawks, but that was not the case as the Knights drop another Southern League match Tuesday 6-3 in Ripon.

The Hawks (8-3-2 SL) got on the board with a quick first-half goal, yet slipped into a funk a. Ripon Christian was able to stifle the Delhi offense, but its own offense continued to be invisible.

Delhi distanced themselves from the Knights with an offensive scoring barrage, breaking through for five second half goals on their way to the win. Ripon Christian was able to claw its way back in it with three late goals, but the damage was done.

The Knights (2-11) got a pair of goals from Jon Vander Moles and one from Scott Fauré. Christian Manes contributed with a pair of assists, while Jake Groen added the other.

Ripon Christian will try to close out their first SL season on a high note when they travel to Gustine for the season finale.

Trans Valley League
Ripon 3, Riverbank 2
The Indinas improved their playoff stock a great deal, knocking off the Riverbank Bruins 3-2 in Trans Valley League play Tuesday.

Ripon (4-4-3 TVL, 8-10-4 overall) is in need of some outside assistance from likely league champion Hilmar, as a win over Escalon from the Yellow jackets would leave the Indians in good position in their finale against Orestimba. An Escalon loss coupled with a Ripon win over Orestimba will usher the Indians into the Sac-Joaquin Section Division V Soccer championships.

“This was a nice win and it leaves us with an outside shot if Hilmar can take care of Escalon,” Ripon head coach Jamie DeBruyn said.

The Himar-Escalon results were not available at time of press.

Ripon got goals from Alex Wever, Zach Slamon and Jared Berglund, with Berglund’s coming in the second-half on an assist from Wever.

Ripon will meet up with Orestimba Thursday on the road.
