For several years, K. Hovnanian Homes has responded to its customers with higher levels of energy-efficiency and green technology in new homes.  The builder has been a proactive force in the industry, pursuing new research, pushing initiatives and educating homeowners about living energy-efficient and earth-friendly lifestyles.

Starting this weekend, the builder is opening demonstration homes at each community and has appointed a spokesman to further promote the cause and educate customers on the advantages of K. Hovnanian’s High Performance Homes.  With a focus on nature, technology and efficiency, the spokesman’s job is to help homeowners understand the money they can save and natural resources they can conserve in their new home -- without sacrificing their comfort or principles.

“Homebuyers like to connect with people and faces, not with technology-infused websites and brochures,” said Carrie Gooding, senior community manager for K. Hovnanian Homes regarding Nate, the company’s new green technology spokesperson.  “They are more likely to connect with Nate, relate to Nate, and be receptive to learning more about K. Hovnanian High Performance Homes from him.”

While it is unusual to hear “environmentally conscious” and “homebuilder” in the same sentence, Gooding said the homebuilding industry is ideal for massive and widespread implementation of environmental practices.

“We design energy-efficiency into each home, recycle materials during construction, manage stormwater runoff from construction sites and ultimately build homes that reduce the carbon footprint and provide long-term savings for homeowners,” she said.

To spread the word quickly, the K. Hovnanian Homes spokesperson will have his own Facebook page, Twitter feed, YouTube channel, blog and website, NateKHov.com, stocked with videos and interactive content allowing prospective homebuyers to understand the efficiency and savings they can experience in a new K. Hovnanian High Performance Home.

“We are confident Nate will be a visible and trusted face in the industry, increasing demand for our homes and interest in living a more energy-efficient, earth-friendly, and budget-conscious lifestyle,” said Gooding.

K. Hovnanian Homes is the sixth largest homebuilder in the nation.  The company’s Northern California division received a maximum five stars for their warranty and customer service, according to J.D. Power’s New Home Builder Customer Satisfaction Study.  Founded in 1959 by the late Kevork S. Hovnanian, the company sells homes in 18 states and the District of Columbia and reported $1.37 billion in total revenue in the 2010 fiscal year.  K. Hovnanian Homes builds communities that include single-family homes, townhomes and garden homes.  The company is known for its expertise in community redevelopment and environmental rehabilitation.
