Manteca FC has room on under-12 girls team

OUTLAWZ TRYOUTS: The Nor Cal Outlawz Amateur Athletic Union basketball club is holding tryouts for junior high and high school girls Saturday, March 12.

Tryouts will take place from noon-2 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church (1635 Chester Drive) in Tracy. A $10 registration fee is required.

North American Youth Sports is holding its annual spring youth basketball tournament at Modesto Junior College on April 15-17.

The tournament will feature 10 different age and gender-based brackets: 5th-6th grade, 7th grade, 8th grade, 9th-10th grade and 11th-12th grade.

The entry fee is $125 and guarantees each team a minimum of two games. Awards will be presented in each bracket.

Deadline to enter your team is March 25.

East Union’s girls basketball program is hosting its 3rd Annual Lady Lancer Summer Basketball Camp June 6-9 at Dalben Center. The camp is geared for boys and girls entering grades 3-5 and 6-9.

Cost is $65 before May 25 and $75 after the early-registration deadline. Campers also have the option of paying $20 per day. Early registrants will receive a free camp t-shirt, which is otherwise $15 and available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

An open tournament will be held to help benefit East Union High’s Sober Grad Night on April 9 at Manteca Park Golf Course. Tee time is set for a 7 a.m. shotgun start.

Cost is $300 for a foursome and $79 for a single player. Mulligans can be purchased at $20 per group.

Price includes green fees, golf cart, bucket of balls, continental breakfast, non-alcoholic beverages, lunch and goodie bag.

Raffle prizes will be available. Awards will go to the first-place group and individuals who are closest to the pin and hit the longest drive on pre-determined holes.

The Lancer Youth Wrestling Club is accepting signups for the 2010-2011 season during practices on Mondays and Wednesdays.

The East Union High football program’s meeting for originally scheduled for today has been postponed for March 24.

The meeting, which starts 6:30 p.m. at Dalben Center, is mandatory for all incoming freshmen, new and returning football players and their parents.

MHS-EU ALUMNI GAME: Old rivalries will be rekindled on May 6, when former Manteca High and East Union football players will clash in two alumni full-contact games — Class of 2001 and older, Class of 2002 and younger — at a site yet to be determined.

A meeting will be held at the East Union gymnasium Saturday, March 12 at 7 p.m.

Cost to play for each player is $95. The fee covers full gear and equipment, officials, announcers, emergency personnel, video personnel, a souvenir t-shirt and game video. Players must supply their own mouthpiece, cleats and jock strap.

REBELS SIGNUPS: The Delta Rebels are hosting signups on March 10, 15, 19 and 24 at Straw Hat Pizza on Main Street in Manteca.

Times for the Tuesday and Thursday dates are 6-8 p.m., and 1-3 p.m. for Saturdays.

The registration fee is $25. Discounts are available for early signups and siblings. Deadline for the early signup is April 3.

All participants are required to turn in a sports physical dated no sooner than June 1, and new players and cheerleaders must supply a copy of their most recent report card and birth certificate.

The registration date is set for March 23 from 7-9 p.m. at Round Table Pizza near Big League Dreams. Registration is also on Saturday, March 19 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Registration costs $50 for football and $30 for cheer. Each athlete must pay a $100 participation fee. Payments can be arranged, and fundraising is available. Cheerleaders must also pay for the cost of the uniforms.

COWBOYS SIGNUPS: Signups take place from 6-8 p.m. at Mountain Mike’s Pizza for football players ages 6-14 and cheerleaders ages 5-14 on the following dates: March 24, April 7 and 21 and May 5 and 19.

The organization will also hold registrations on April 2 and 3 during the Manteca Street Faire.

Space is limited to 30 players per football roster. Everyone is guaranteed playing time, and there are no boundaries.

There are no roster limits and no tryouts for cheer.

The Spreckels Park BMX track in Manteca holds American Bicycle Association BMX-sanctioned races on Sunday afternoons. Signups to participate are from 2-4 p.m. with races beginning soon after.

Required equipment includes a helmet, long sleeves or elbow pads and long pants. Bicycles will go through a safety check at the track.

You must be an ABA member to race. Memberships can be obtained on race day. An annual membership costs $45, and the fee to enter a race is $10. Admission is free for spectators, and the track is open on non-race days from dawn to dusk, free of charge.
