County history told with dolls
LODI – San Joaquin County’s history will be told through handmade dolls depicting individuals of the past at the monthly Docent Council meeting on Monday (March 14)) at the San Joaquin County Historical Museum in Micke Grove Park south of Lodi.

The program will begin at 9 a.m. in the museum’s multi-purpose room. After the program and refreshments, a business meeting will follow. The public is encouraged to attend.

Jean Versic of Lodi will be the program speaker. Versic is a docent and talented artist who made numerous clay dolls of our county’s historic individuals ranging from Miwoks to Capt. Charles Weber and George Micke. She will explain how the dolls were made and what role the individual played in local history. Versic’s dolls are on exhibit in the museum.

The Docent Council is a volunteer group with about 90 members in the San Joaquin County Historical Society & Museum and assists in the museum’s educational programs and activities.
