RIPON — The Ripon City Council will give it another go Tuesday at hearing the request by the Ripon Rotary Club to waive the facility-use fees on the Community Center for the upcoming Bingo and Poker Tournament.

The open session begins at 7 p.m. at Ripon City Hall, 259 N. Wilma.

At the previous meeting, council was lacking in numbers, with at three votes being necessary to take action on the request.

Vice Mayor Garry Krebbs was absent while Chuck Winn and Dean Uecker, both Rotarians, opted to abstain due to their affiliation with the non-profit service organization, leaving just Mayor Elden “Red” Nutt and Charlie Gay.

Cost for non-profit organizations to use the Community Center, according to the City of Ripon, is the full-price rate of $1,120 plus an $800 security deposit; or $560 half-price coupled with the $800 security deposit.

The Bingo and Poker event scheduled for April 15 will help fund the various Rotary programs and endeavors.

Included are Ripon High and Ripon Christian High scholarships; Color the Skies; City of Ripon youth sports; Ripon public branch and RHS libraries; Ripon Unified speech contest; and Interfaith Ministries of Ripon to name a few.
