WESTON RANCH — Sierra scored seven runs on six hits in the first inning Thursday afternoon at Weston Ranch and went on to dispatch the Cougars in five, 11-0.

Luis Barraza (2B) worked four innings, allowing two hits and striking out four.

Andy Scott closed it out with a pair of strikeouts.

Kenny Leasure led the way at the dish, going 2 for 4.

“We talked (Wednesday) about trying to score the first run,” Sierra head coach Jack Thomson said. “After you win the first of a back-to-back series, it’s important to throw the first punch on Thursday.”

The Timberwolves (3-0 Valley Oak League, 5-3) kick off a home-and-home with Sonora starting Tuesday at Sierra High.

Weston Ranch heads to Ceres.
