• Ripon VFW plans Memorial Day services Monday: RIPON — Ripon’s Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1051 and American Legion Post 190 will be conducting their annual Memorial Day ceremonies at the Ripon Cemetery, on Monday, May 30, at 10:30 a.m. Please join the VFW this year in honoring all the men and women who served their country and made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we all enjoy.  

Ceremonies will include Ripon’s Veteran Color Guard and VFW Post 1051 Honor Guard  along with guest  speakers Assemblyman Bill Berryhill and U.S. Representative Jerry McNerny’s representative Gary Prost, with Iraq war veteran Colonel Robert Olson giving the Memorial Day address.  A light lunch will be provided for all attendees  after the ceremonies at Ripon’s VFW Post.



• Clothing give-away Saturday at church: RIPON —  Ripon Church of Christ, 600 W. Milgeo, is staging a  Clothing Give-Away Day this Saturday, May 28, from noon to 2 p.m. Refreshments will also be available.



• Police BBQ June 8 at Stouffer Park: RIPON — Ripon Police Sgt. Richard Kalebjian is heading up a community barbecue at Stouffer Park on June 8 for citizens of his Patrol Beat Area 2 in the northeast section of the city.

It will serve as a community meeting along with the barbecue to discuss any concerns or issues the public may have that are occurring with the Ripon neighborhoods.

The goal of the series of public meetings with officers is to improve communication between residents and the police who patrol those specific residential neighborhoods.
