STOCKTON – The San Joaquin County Fair opens on Wednesday.

And it’s free.

The five-day run begins at the fairgrounds at Charter Way and Airport Way on Wednesday with thrill rides, exhibits, food, and other attractions.

Parking for the fair is $5.

Horse racing begins Thursday, with the daily first post at 1:15 p.m.

As for entertainment, the concert schedule at the Health Plan of San Joaquin Main Stage is as follows:

• Wednesday, Motown original, The Four Tops.

• Thursday, country music band, Lonestar.

• Friday, Journey tribute band, Evolution.

• Saturday, ’70s R&B group, Tower of Power.

• Sunday, Latin music group, Los Horoscopos de Durango.

All shows begin at 8 p.m.

The fair will once again offer plenty of family-fun activities, from a petting zoo, jugglers, and marionettes, to a hypnotist along with a traditional carnival and games.

As the weather heats up, fairgoers can make their way to the special “Cool Zone” area to relax and cool off.

Local talent can be spotted at the Community Stage.

Students from the local Future Farmers of America – included are Manteca High, East Union, Sierra, Weston Ranch, Ripon, and Lathrop – can be found at the Junior Livestock area.

Plans call for the SJC Fair to be moved next year to the fall.
