POSTED June 15, 2011 1:44 a.m.

Delbert went to be with his Savior June 8, 2011, in Mariposa, California. He was 93 years old.  He was born June 23, 1917 in Visalia, California to George Ernest and Della (Potter) Dice. He was retired from the South San Joaquin Irri-gation District in Manteca, California as a Division Manager and was loved by all of his co-workers, ranchers, and farmers.

He married Constance (Connie) Lorance on November 28, 1964. They made their home in Mante-ca, Twain Harte, and for the last twenty-one years in Mariposa, California.

Delbert is survived by his wife, Connie. He is also survived by four children: Janet Locke, Silver Springs, Nevada; David Dice, Oak-dale, California; Judy Rice, Saint Joseph, Missouri, and Lisa Ranson, Lawton, Oklahoma. He had 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

His most enduring love was for the outdoors and his family.  He was happi-est with a fishing rod or hunting rifle in his hand. He was always quick to help others especially families with small children. Del will be remembered for his sense of humor, smile, and how hard he worked to sup-port his family.

The family would like to thank the loving, tender care that was provided in the years and months that he was a resident of the Ewing Wing of the John C. Fremont Hospital where they fondly called him “Captain.” He had a nick-name for all of his caregivers. The family would also like to thank the members of First Baptist Church, Mariposa for the cards, phone calls, prayers, and visits preceding his passing.

He was remembered pri-vately by his family by the sharing of memories, song, prayer, and scripture read-ing in the days preceding his home going. Donations, in lieu of flowers can be made in his honor to the Ewing Wing of John C. Fremont Hospital in Mariposa, California.
