Herrin taking over Sequoia principal’s role for Sequoia

Lisa Herrin is taking over as Sequoia School principal for the 2009-10 school year.

She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from Brigham Young University, Utah, and her Masters of Education/ Administration from Azusa Pacific University.

She holds a Clear Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, Bilingual Crosscultural and Academic Development Certificate, and an Administrative Services Credential.

Herrin started her teaching career in 1992 teaching first and third grades at Menifee Union School District in Menifee, CA. In 1995, she was hired by Bassett Unified School District in La Puente, CA, where she taught third grade and was also a bilingual resource specialist. In 1999, she moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, where she taught second grade and sixth grade. In 2001, she was promoted to the position of assistant principal at West Kearns Elementary School in Utah.

In October, 2003, she was hired by Manteca Unified School District as an elementary school vice principal at Joseph Widmer School. As a vice principal, she oversees school assessment programs, coordinates intervention programs, and assists in employee evaluations.

Local residents graduate  from Kaplan College
Manteca area residents graduated from Kaplan College’s Stockton campus last Saturday.  

Just over 100 students from the Stockton were recognized for earning diplomas in one of the most in-demand fields in the state, health care, which continues to project growth despite the economy.

The Kaplan College Stockton campus is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology (ACCSCT).  ACCSCT is listed as a nationally recognized accrediting agency by the United States Department of Education.  

 The Kaplan College Stockton campus March 2009 graduates are as follows:

• Diploma, Medical Assistant: Sarbjit Bassi, Lathrop; Rebecca Kirkendall, Manteca; Aachal Lal, Lathrop; Laura Loza, Manteca; Michelle Martinez, Lathrop; Suzan Meraz, Lathrop; Maricela Silva, French Camp; and Monique Velasquez, Lathrop.

•Diploma, Medical Office Specialist: Andelica Corsaro, Manteca

Meyer  earns spot on WU dean’s list
Robin Meyer of Manteca, was named to the Dean’s List for the fall 2008 semester at Washington University in St. Louis. Meyer is a graduate of Manteca High School in Manteca and is enrolled in the university’s College of Arts & Science.
