WESTON RANCH — A coalition of Weston Ranch High School and community organizations are joining together to sponsor a pancake breakfast fund-raiser on behalf of Steufon Mackey and his family.

Steufon Mackey was injured earlier this month by a stray bullet and is currently recovering at Oakland’s Children’s Hospital. Steufon is a fun loving 15 year old teenager who is the son of Yvette and Willie Mackey and the big brother to Donovan Mackey. He is a sophomore at Weston Ranch High school who recently played on the Boy’s JV Basketball team.

Three months ago Steufon wrote his goals down and posted them in his room:

1) Graduate from high school with honors, 2) Get into University of Arizona, Pepperdine, Long Beach Poly, Texas A&M or UOP and graduate with a business degree,

3) Continue to improve grades. Steufon’s loves watching old college basketball games and playing basketball. His favorite movie is ‘Bad Boys II’ and other Martin Lawrence and Will Smith movies. Like most teens, he downloads his music to play on his sidekick and MP3 players.

At least once a week, the Mackey family all sit down to listen to each other discuss how their lives are doing so they can all be there and support each other. As a friend, Steufon listens and gives support and advice to his friends, in which his parents encourage, themselves also serving as role models to others. Steufon consistently maintains a 3.00 GPA while enrolled in AP classes and playing sports.
For the future, Steufon also hopes to get his real estate licenses, work his way to the top in a major real estate company

As we all feel the stress of today’s uncertainty with work, school, and home, the Mackey family is facing a greater challenge for Steufon’s recovery. All proceeds from this breakfast this will go towards the expenses the family will incur during Steufon’s recuperation.

The Mackey’s have been both school and community supporters. In their spirit, this breakfast is being hailed as a community event. Together we can unite the Mackey family and community to overcome today’s negativity and violence. Information on upcoming local school and community activities will be available. Learn about the Weston Ranch High School family of organizations, upcoming events, and volunteer opportunities that can make a difference to our youth while supporting the Mackey family.

Please join the Weston Ranch community on Saturday, April 4, from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Weston Ranch High School cafeteria for pancakes, sausage, eggs, and a beverage.

Donations for the breakfast such as eggs, and beverages are being asked. Also, condiments such as syrup, butter, and salt and pepper and paper products such as napkins, plates, utensils and hot/cold cups are also being accepted.

Please contact Brenda Hale, Weston Ranch High School Athletic Department, at (209) 938-6245, ext. 56264 if you have questions, would like to donate or volunteer for this event.
