The Ripon Rampage softball program left its mark in the 2011 National Softball Association Western World Series in Sacramento and Elk Grove earlier this week.
Teams came from Northern California, Nevada, Oregon and Washington.
The 12-under team, comprised of Ripon and Escalon girls, placed second in the “B” Division, finishing 5-2-1 in the four-day tournament that ended Wednesday. Rampage made it through the consolation bracket and racked up several come-from-behind victories until meeting eventual champion Diamonds 98 in the finals.
Rampage’s 14-under squad didn’t fare as well, placing seventh with a 2-3 record. But Breanna Da Rosa came away a big winner after she was presented a $1,000 college scholarship during the opening ceremonies.
Ripon Rampage will add another 14-under team for the fall 2011 season. One will compete at an elite level, and the other will be a local travel team. Tryouts will be held at Stouffer Park in Ripon Aug. 6 and 20 and Sept. 10 from 9-10:30 a.m.
