Ripon Chiefs dinner dance set for Aug. 6

The Ripon Chiefs youth football and cheer program is hosting its annual dinner and dance fundraiser Saturday, Aug. 6, at the Ripon Community Center.
The event will include a steak dinner, silent and live auctions and a dance. A no-host cocktail hour will start at 6 p.m.

MANTECA FC: Manteca Futbol Club is hosting tryouts for its under-10 boys team Thursday from 6-7:30 p.m. at Roberts Estate Park (behind Sierra High School).

AIS CAMP: The Ambassadors In Sport soccer camp returns to Manteca Aug. 2-6 at Northgate Park.
AIS will bring 13 international coaches for an afternoon/evening camp sponsored by Crossroads Grace Community Church.
The five-day camp includes training for beginning and competitive players, goalies, teachings of Biblical principles that affect life and competition, a ball and a shirt for $75 per participant.

RED DEVILS: The Red Devils girls team of the Manteca Futbol Club are looking for competitive soccer players for the NorCal Premier fall and spring leagues as well as the State Cup.

CYBL: The California Youth Basketball League is accepting registrations for the Fall 2011 season. Games begin Aug. 27 and run through Nov. 5.

CYCLONES: Roster spots are still open for the 12-under “white” and 14-under “black” teams. The 12-under team is looking for a good pitcher and big hitters. The 14-under club will be playing ASA “A” ball and are looking for strong players.

VOLLEYBALL

RAGE CAMP: The Rage Volleyball Club of Ripon is holding a four-day instructional camp July 28-31.
Cost is $140 per camper, and space is limited to the first 36 registrants to assure an 8-1 player-to-coach ratio. The camp is for beginning and intermediate players ages 10-16.
The camp will begin at Salida Middle School from 6-9 p.m. for the first two days. On Saturday, July 30, it will again be hosted at Salida Middle School from noon to 3 p.m. The final day of the camp will be at Ripon High from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
There will be no refunds for accepted camp applications after July 24. A processing fee of $30 will be assessed on all refunded applications, and returned checks will be subject to a $25 penalty.

EU CAMP: East Union High’s volleyball program will be holding its 3rd annual camp Aug. 8 and 9 from 3-5 p.m. at Dalben Center.
Cost to register is $30 per camper. Checks are payable to East Union Volleyball.

DUATHLON

An open-water swim event will be offered to all levels of swimmers, as well as an exciting swim/run duathlon at On Your Mark Events’ “The Great Aqua Challenge and Duathlon” on Saturday, July 23 at Eagal Lake Resort (12 E. Lorenzen Road) in Tracy.
The entry fee to any of the three Aqua Challenge competitions (2-mile, 1-mile, ½-mile) is $35 but is raised to $40 for registration the day of the event. Those who chose to compete in the ½-mile race along with either of the longer events may do so for an additional $5.
The Duathlon fee is $50 in advance and $55 on race day. Entry fees include refreshments, snacks, a T-shirt, awards and entry into a raffle.

SAILING

The Stockton Sailing Club is offering classes for youth ages 9-18.
Classes are four hours a day for one week, Monday through Friday. The program ends on July 29.

ARCHERY SHOOTS

The Manteca Sportsman Club will be holding a 3D archery shoot every Thursday from 4-7:30 p.m. starting June 16. The last shot will be held Aug. 11.
The shoot will consist of at least 14 3D animals which archer will be allowed two shots and each using arrows with field points only. No broadheads are allowed on the range.
The cost to members and the public is $8.
All shooters must register at the clubhouse prior to entering the archery range.

PA CLINIC

The National Association of Sports Public Address Announcers is holding a clinic at De Salle High School in Concord July 16, 9 a.m. to noon.
Oakland Raiders stadium announcer Gary Williams will offer hands-on training behind the mic.
Cost is $55 for adults who register before June 15, and $65 after. The fee for students is $25 for early registration, and $35 for late. NASPAA members will receive a $10 discount.

BMX

The Spreckels Park BMX track in Manteca holds American Bicycle Association BMX-sanctioned races on Sunday afternoons. Signups to participate are from 2-4 p.m. with races beginning soon after.
Required equipment includes a helmet, long sleeves or elbow pads and long pants. Bicycles will go through a safety check at the track.
You must be an ABA member to race. Memberships can be obtained on race day. An annual membership costs $45, and the fee to enter a race is $10. Admission is free for spectators, and the track is open on non-race days from dawn to dusk, free of charge.
