Sierra volleyball meeting on Aug. 10

The Sierra High volleyball team is holding a mandatory meeting for all levels Wednesday, Aug. 10 at 2:45 p.m. Coaches will verify that players have cleared physicals.

EU VOLLEYBALL:  Tryouts for all levels will open Aug. 10 at 2:45 p.m. at the large gym. All participants must have a completed red card (physical and liability form) signed off by the administration office prior to the first tryout.

SOFTBALL

CYCLONES: The Ripon Lady Cyclones’ new 12-under “white” team is looking for players to round out its fall roster. The team is in need of a catcher and another pitcher. Practices are held at Ripon High.

VOLLEYBALL

EU CAMP: East Union High’s volleyball program will be holding its 3rd annual camp Aug. 8 and 9 from 3-5 p.m. at Dalben Center.
Cost to register is $30 per camper. Checks are payable to East Union Volleyball.
Camp brochures must be filled out prior to participation. They are available in the East Union administration office as well as the day of the camp.

FOOTBALL

CHIEFS: The Ripon Chiefs youth football and cheer program is hosting its annual dinner and dance fundraiser Saturday, Aug. 6 at the Ripon Community Center.
The event will include a steak dinner, silent and live auctions and a dance. A no-host cocktail hour will start at 6 p.m.

SOCCER

RED DEVILS: The Red Devils girls team of the Manteca Futbol Club are looking for competitive soccer players for the NorCal Premier fall and spring leagues as well as the State Cup.
Potential players must be born on Aug. 1, 1998 or after.

BASKETBALL

CYBL: The California Youth Basketball League is accepting registrations for the Fall 2011 season. Games begin Aug. 27 and run through Nov. 5.
Divisions are offered for boys and girls ages 4-18. Registrations are available for individuals and teams.

ARCHERY SHOOTS

The Manteca Sportsman Club will be holding a 3D archery shoot every Thursday from 4-7:30 p.m. starting June 16. The last shot will be held Aug. 11.
The shoot will consist of at least 14 3D animals which archer will be allowed two shots and each using arrows with field points only. No broadheads are allowed on the range.
The cost to members and the public is $8.
All shooters must register at the clubhouse prior to entering the archery range.

LANCER YOUTH: The Lancer Youth Wrestling Club is accepting signups for the 2010-2011 season during practices on Mondays and Wednesdays.

INDOOR SOCCER: Registrations are being accepted for men’s, women’s and co-ed leagues.

BMX

The Spreckels Park BMX track in Manteca holds American Bicycle Association BMX-sanctioned races on Sunday afternoons. Signups to participate are from 2-4 p.m. with races beginning soon after.
Required equipment includes a helmet, long sleeves or elbow pads and long pants. Bicycles will go through a safety check at the track.
You must be an ABA member to race. Memberships can be obtained on race day. An annual membership costs $45, and the fee to enter a race is $10. Admission is free for spectators, and the track is open on non-race days from dawn to dusk, free of charge.
