For years, those in the agricultural community would bring the farm to the various Manteca Unified sites.

The tradition continues Tuesday at George Komure School in Weston Ranch.

Farm Day is planned from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the southwest Stockton campus located at 2121 Henry Long Blvd.

According to school officials, George Komure, the school’s namesake, was a longtime French Camp area farmer, growing various crops in the area.

Not too long after its opening some six years ago, Komure School began instituting its annual farm day.

Students now look forward to this special event, learning about all aspects of agriculture and its importance to the world.

Among the other elementary sites in the district with farm day connections include August Knodt, Great Valley, and Shasta schools.

For more information, call Komure Vice Principal Jeff Podesto, farm day coordinator Jennifer Medeiros or office manager Kari Brannon at (209) 234-4812.
