Lopez’ 3 scores does the trick for Manteca

Rocio Lopez scored three goals Tuesday in a 4-0 Manteca win over Central Valley in frosh-soph play.

Amanda Michaelis scored the fourth with help from Joanna Maxwell.

Sara Wilbur had two assists and Delores Aguirre collected another.

Manteca (3-1-1 VOL, 9-1-1) hosts Oakdale Thursday.

East Union 6, Ceres 0

In Ceres, Stephanie Sabala had two goals and an assist for the victorious Lancers.

Kendra Kaiseman found net and had an assist, while Bianca Wesley, Jagjeet Dhillon and Melissa Gomez scored one each.

Karen Vera, Ashley Espericueta and Juliana Perez all had assists.

Anissa Armstrong had a number of big saves.


Sierra 7, Ceres 3

Jared Twomey pitched six solid innings striking out four and allowing three hits and all three runs in the first to collect the win.

Sierra scored six in the fourth to win it.

Alex Arreola hit a two-run knock in the decisive frame, and Bret Wilson tagged a two-run triple.

Sierra (5-1 VOL) travels to Ceres Thursday.

East Union 16,  Central Valley 1

The Lancers snapped a four-game skid with an exclamation points, routing the Hawks in five innings Tuesday at home.

Colby Seibel was 2 for 3 with five RBIs, and Justin Dias was 2 for 3 with a three-run home run.

Steven Gigli went 2 for 2 with three runs scored and Josh Bradford hit a two-run double.

“We’re just really excited about being on the other side,” EU head coach Mike James said. “Through this adversity the kids just kept coming out to practice to get better every day.

“It’s nice to see it show.”

Seibel tossed all five innings, allowing three hits and one run on two strikeouts.

EU travels to Ceres Thursday.


East Union 13,  Central Valley 0

In Ceres, Brock Swift led the way on both sides of the ball, finishing 4 for 4 with two doubles and five RBIs, while tossing a complete-game, four-hitter with nine K’s and no walks.

Zack Lewellan was 2 for 3 with a double, as was Zac Carrillo.

Tyler Plumb had a pair of knocks and reached in all four plate appearances.

EU (3-3 VOL) hosts the Hawks Thursday.

Sonora 8, Manteca 7

In Sonora, Manteca took a 7-5 lead into the home half of the seventh, but couldn’t hold on.

Daniel Miramontes tossed five innings allowing two earned on striking out seven, while Felix Hernandez recorded the loss.

Alex Martinez was 1 for 2 with four runs scored and a double, while Danny Gouveia was 3 for 4.

Zach Menasco was 2 for 3 with two RBIs.

Manteca (5-1 VOL, 10-3 overall) returns home Thursday.
