Evelyn Ann Louis, 88, passed away on March 25, 2009 in Sacramento.  Born Evelyn Ann Lucas on September 21, 1921 in Knights Ferry, CA she was the last of thirteen children of an immigrant father, John A. Lucas, from the Azores Islands.  Her mother, Mary Gloria King – Lucas, was native to California.  She grew up in Escalon and the Manteca area where she met her husband of 59 years, Ernie Louis, who has preceded her in death.  Tracy has been her home for many years before moving to Sacramento a year ago.

She and her husband, Ernie, spent many years traveling the United States and Europe, now this is her last trip home.  Her family, friends and all the people she touched in her lifetime will miss her.  She was a devoted catholic and volunteered many hours to her church, St. Bernard’s, in Tracy.

Evelyn is survived by her children Ernie Louis and his wife Carol of Placerville and her daughter Sharon Hedstrom and her husband Jack of Miles City, Montana.  She was the beloved grandmother of Scott Louis and Casey Bonar of California and Jannell Eurich, Shannon Tamblyn and Shelby Gee of Montana.  The great grandmother of eight grandchildren – three living in California and five living in Montana.

Fry Memorial Chapel is in charge of funeral arrangements.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2009 from 2 to 7 p.m. at Fry Memorial Chapel.  A Rosary will follow at 7 p.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 3, 2009 at 11 a.m. at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church 163 W. Eaton Ave., Tracy.  Her final resting place will be private along side her beloved husband at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Escalon.
