Delbert Avery McKenzie, 76, entered into rest on September 17th, 2011 in Manteca. He was born on February 25th, 1935 in Chautaugua, Kansas.

Delbert leaves behind his beloved wife, Alice Mary McKenzie of  Manteca. His children, Sheree Richter and husband Larry of  Manteca, Delbert Dean and wife Jill and Dyanna Salazar.  He was blessed with four grandchildren; Joshua Richter, Jourdan Richter, Chris Poulopoulos and Emmeline Phillips. Delbert is the brother to Bob Coe of OK, Faye Wilson of  KS, Sue Miller of OK and Wauneta Kilgore of OK.

Delbert was a resident of Manteca since 1945. He  attended Lindberg Elementary and Manteca High School. Delbert served his country proudly through the U.S. Navy serving in the Korean and Vietnam War. He was then discharged in 1957 after 18 months in Balboa Naval Hospital. Delbert went on to attend Molar Barber School in Sacramento. Delbert then became the proud owner of Del’s Barber Shop on Yosemite Ave. next to the old El Rey Theater.  Delbert, being the persistent man that he was, achieved his high school diploma after years of  being away from school at Delta JC College.  Delbert then be-came employed with the Tracy Defense Depot. He retired  in 1990, which gave him time to do what he loved best, restoring old cars, golfing and camping. Delbert was also an avid fisherman always bringing in a good catch. He was a most wonderful grandfather. His grandchildren where the apple of his eye as he would never miss out on any of their sporting events, always cheering them on to victory. He was the best father to his children and a devoted husband to his loving wife Alice. He will be remembered for the excellent service he gave our country and for always being a true and honest man.
