Al is survived by Carl Hollis “Dink” of North Carolina, and Terry Ash of South San Francisco. His grandchildren are Alandra and Eric Gatty, Cody Cox, David & Nick Ash. He was blessed by 2 great-grandchildren Colby Gatty and Alex Gatty.
Before moving to Manteca 3 years ago to be closer to family, Al resided in Fortuna, California. He was a Veteran of the United Sates Marine Corps and served our country from 1942-1945 fighting in WWII. By trade Al was a Carpenter for the Carpenter’s Union Local 751 in Fortuna, CA, for over 40 years. He was a member and commander of the Walker Bailey Post 205 American Legion in Fortuna, California. He enjoyed wood-working in his shop and making special projects for his family and friends. In his pass-time he enjoyed reading and relaxing with his great-grandchildren, “they were the apple of his eye.” To remember Al is to remember him as a helpful giving man who was dearly loved. He touched many people’s lives and will be greatly missed.
