There is an event that is as much a part of the Manteca Pumpkin Fair as the street fair but is not as high profile.

But for upwards of 1,600 special people it is what kicks off the fall season.

It’s Special Access Day staged by members of the service club. This year it takes place at Dell’Osso Farms on Friday.

Developmentally disabled children and adults between the ages of 18 months and 80 years attend the event. Expected are 1,200 to 1,600 from more than the 50 facilities in San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Amador, Tuolumne, Merced and Calaveras counties.

They’ll have a chance to enjoy the various attractions at Dell’Osso. Those attending “Special Access Day” can look forward to a free lunch coupled with live entertainment.

Youngsters can expect to receive “Trick or Treat” bags filled with goodies.
