More than $540,000 has been pumped into community non-profits thanks to the Sunrise Kiwanis Manteca Pumpkin Fair that returns the weekend of Oct. 1-2 to downtown Manteca.

One of the major fundraisers for the event is the carnival that takes place starting Wednesday and goes through Sunday, next to JC Penney at the Promenade Shops at Orchard Valley. Hours are 4 to 10 p.m. Wednesday through Friday as well as noon to 10 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

The club makes its money off advance ticket sales that are now available until 5 p.m. today at the Visitors Center on Grove Street near the fountain in the Orchard Valley complex, Golden Valley Credit Union across from Verizon on Center Street, Give Every Child a Chance on Commerce Court behind Home Depot, and Road Runner Glass in the 200 block of North Main Street.

Discount books of 30 tickets are available for 50 percent off. Full books can be exchanged at the carnival for an all-day ride wrist band.

“It is not just a big savings on ride tickets but the club also makes their money to help the community through advance ticket sales,” said Kiwanis member Chuck Crutchfield.
