Richard “Dick” Yost, 74, entered into rest on April 5, 2009 in Manteca.

Mr. Yost was born on March 12, 1935 in Toledo, Ohio.  He was preceded in death by his sisters Lois Marazon and Rosellen Snyder.

Dick is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years Donna Yost of Manteca. His children are Shela Blake of Manteca and Bill Yost of Washington. He was blessed by 4 grandchildren Michelle Alexander, Kyle Wise, Brett Yost, and Nona Yost. He had5 special great-grandchildren; Destiny, Jayde, Jacob, Noah, and Brett JR. He is also survived by one sister Susie Lark of Ohio as well as one brother-in-law Jack Snyder and wife Barbara of Manteca. He was also loved by many other surviving nieces nephews and friends.   

Mr. Yost was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War as a paratrooper. He retired from LOF in 1995 as a heavy equipment operator. Dick was the first employee that LOF hired that was local from the Manteca area and not from Illinois or Ohio. He was a member of the VFW and the S.H.A.R.P. Unit of Manteca from 1997 – 2009. He was a past member of the American Legion and a regular attendee and member of Cornerstone Church of Manteca.

Dick’s passion was volunteer work; he loved donating his time to Give Every Child a Chance and feeding the homeless with his dear friend Frank Guinta. Dick enjoyed traveling and traveling with him was always an adventure; his way of traveling was always by car. Some of his favorite places to travel were Canada, the east coast, and Mexico. His great-granddaughter Destiny was his traveling partner and little angel; she was the apple of his eye. He will be remembered as a great conversationalist, a good hearted man, a devoted husband and father and a very special grandfather and great-grandfather.

Mr. Yost’s services are being handled by P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home of Manteca. Visitation will be on Thursday, April 9, from 1 to 5 p.m. at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home 290 N. Union Road, Manteca. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, April 10, at 1 p.m. also held at P.L. Fry & Son. Final resting place will be kept private.
