CALAVERAS COUNTY – The Calaveras Winegrape Alliance presents the 16th annual Presidents’ Wine Weekend Feb. 18 and 19 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at all member wineries. Weekend festivities include new release and barrel tastings, food and wine pairings and live music, as well as a number of special discounts on wines and gifts. Two full days of special offerings can be purchased for $10 per person which includes a commemorative wine glass.

“The Presidents’ Wine Weekend is a great opportunity to sample award-winning Calaveras wines paired expertly with signature family dishes,” said Carrie Nelson, CWA administrator. “The wineries prepare early for this event, and each will have something truly special for participants.”

Wine glasses will be available at the following locations during the weekend: Calaveras Visitors Bureau, 1192 S. Main St., Angels Camp; Chatom Vineyards, 1969 E. Highway 4, Douglas Flat; and in Murphys – Brice Station Winery, 3353 E. Highway 4; Tanner Vineyards, 202 Main St.; Hatcher Winery, 419 Main St.; Frog’s Tooth Vineyards, 380 Main St., Suite C; Val du Vino Winery, 634 French Gulch Rd.; and in front of the Native Sons Hall, 389 Main St. on Saturday.

A sampling of food pairings include Hatcher Winery’s famed barbecued pulled pork sandwiches and coleslaw, Stevenot Tasting Room’s local home-made sausages on sourdough French bread along with assorted hors d’oeuvres and cheeses, Chatom Vineyard’s traditional all-American fare, Milliaire Winery’s savory meatballs, tapenades and chocolates and homemade brownies at Broll Mountain Vineyards. In addition to tasty treats, a number of wineries will be offering weekend-only discounts to glass holders including special case discounts at the Stevenot Tasting Room and a 10 percent discount for one to eleven bottles of wine and 20 percent discount on case purchases at Broll Mountain Vineyards.
