Mrs. Asher is survived by daughter-in-law, Marilyn Asher and companion Marc Jantzen of Manteca; her granddaughters Donna Morais of Ripon, Janice Asher and Lisa Asher of Corte Madera, daughter and son-in-law Beverly and Kenneth Graham of Tacoma, Washington, grandchildren Ken and Diane Graham, Steve Graham, Susan and Al Brummitt, and Kevin and Satcha Graham all of Washington. In addition she is survived by 10 great-grandchildren, Michael Morais, Megan Morais, Devin Schell, Herschel Gant, Nicolas Asher, Gia Lagleva, Kieler Graham, Katlyn Graham, Cooper Brummitt and Zia Graham.
Thelma and her husband Claude loved road trips. They could be found with their feet up on the porch at Hoods Canal, watching the sunset over the desert of Arizona and straddling the states at Four Corners. Thelma was always finding places to visit from something she read in a magazine. The family spent one afternoon picnicking on the side of the road near a covered bridge because it “looked so pretty in the magazine.”
Thelma loved spending time with her great-grandchildren. She was always so proud of their accomplishments. Thelma also enjoyed reading and crocheting. Always patient when her grandchildren asked her to show them again (and again and again) how to use a crochet hook. When she was able to get around she enjoyed finding “treasures” at garage sales with her grandson-in-law John Morais. She will be remembered as a beautiful person who was an amazing lady on the inside as well as on the outside. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will be missed.
Funeral services are being handled by Park View Cemetery of French Camp. Viewing will be on April 29, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Park View Chapel with a service following from 4 to 5 p.m. Interment will be private.
