Margarita Montes Castillo

Margarita Montes Castillo, 53, passed away on December 20, 2008 at Dameron Hospital in Stockton due to natural causes.  

Born Margarita Montes on December 18, 1955 in Jimenez, Chihuahua, Mexico, Margarita has called Tracy her home for the past 40 years before moving to Manteca for only a few months.

Margarita was a 6th-, 7th, and 8th-grade teacher at Clover Elementary, South/West Park Elementary, and just recently at George Kelly School.  She was also an instructional aide at Delta Island School where her passion for teaching began.  Not only did her passion for teaching begin, it became her life.  At South/West Park Elementary, Margarita did many things which included being the parent coordinator, instructional aide and the substitute teacher.  On top of all of that, she was a wonderful mom.  Margarita was involved in the Relay for Life and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.  She was the ultimate sports mom.  Her favorite holidays were Thanksgiving and Christmas because she loved cooking for her family.

Her survivors include her husband of 32 years Luis Fernando Castillo of Manteca; her mother Manuela Montes of New Mexico; her children: Nancy Morgado & her husband Carlos of Lathrop and Luis Fernando Montes Castillo of Manteca; and her grandchildren: Arianna, Isaak & Analise Morgado, all of Lathrop; her siblings: Gloria Montes-Saenz of Mexico, Manuel Montes of El Paso, TX, Rosario Herrera of Lathrop, Maria Angelica Gamon of Texas, Maria Guadalupe Montes of New Mexico, Nancy Fraiser of New Mexico, and Sabas Montes Jr. of Manteca.

She is preceded in death by her father Sabas Montes, her grandson Fernando Carlos Castillo-Morgado, her sister Irma Montes, and her brother Julian Montes who passed away in Texas two days later.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008 from 11a.m. until 1 p.m. at Fry Memorial Chapel, 550 S. Central Ave., Tracy, followed by a vigil service at 1 p.m. at Fry Memorial Chapel.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, Jan. 5, 2009 at 10 a.m. at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church 163 W. Eaton Ave., Tracy.  Her final resting place will be at Tracy Public Cemetery.

Donations in Margarita’s memory may be sent to the American Diabetes Association or to the American Kidney Foundation.
