Marion Elaine Winfree, 83, passed peacefully away with her family by her side on Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008.

She was born Nov. 22, 1925 in Wichita, Kansas, to the late Karl and Reathel Roth.

Elaine is survived by her treasured husband of 64 years Donald S. Winfree; daughters, Nancy Loyola and husband Arnold of Mokelumne Hill, and Noni Branscum and husband Jeff of Manteca; grandchildren; Keith Rollins, Jana Branscum, Donald Branscum and Troy Branscum all of Manteca; and great-granddaughter Samantha Shepard of Lodi.

Elaine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was truly a wonderful woman who enjoyed the simple things in life. In her younger years she took to drawing, sewing, cross-stitch, and many arts and crafts.  She was an amazing cook as the family always looked forward to her homemade bread, pies and applesauce. Elaine, often referred to as “The Leave it to Beaver Mother”, was always there by her daughter’s sides helping whenever and wherever needed.

Mrs. Winfree was a devoted Christian of over 40 years and was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. She was very involved in the community and belonged to the Kiwanians and St. Paul’s Federated Women’s Group. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Karl M. Roth.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009, 1 p.m. at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 910 East North Street, Manteca. In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of Northern California, 105 South Washington Street, Lodi, CA 95240.
