East Union freshman softball coach Ron Kackley had never beaten Tracy High.

Fitting then was it that the skipper got the illusive victory thanks to perhaps his best squad ever.

Behind Haleigh Castner’s complete-game, six-strikeout gem, the Pages (6-0 Valley Oak League) collected win No. 20 to remain undefeated Thursday at Northgate Park.

Kailee Nuding finished 3 for 4 and Alisya Hoffman hit a huge two-run single in the fifth.

“We got behind early and kept our composure,” Kackley said. “Every time they challenged us, we had an answer.”

The Pages close the season today with a 4 p.m. matchup at Sierra High.

Sophomore
Manteca 12, Lathrop 1
Tessa Solario rapped three knocks in the win including a triple, and Savannah Reed added four singles and an RBI.

Rochelle Perez knocked two more in, and Sierra Garcia hit a three-run double.
The Buffs take on Sierra this afternoon at home.

BASEBALL
East Union 11, Ceres 6
Justin Dias struck out five and went 3 for 4 at the dish, scoring three and adding two RBIs.

Bret Riley was 2 for 3 with two runs and Bobby Omstead went 3 for 4 with two RBIs.

EU (8-6 VOL, 11-8) hosts Sierra Tuesday.

Central Valley 5, Sierra 1
The Timberwolves (8-5 VOL) wasted a great effort from Adrian Valencia (7 innings, two hits, three strikeouts) by allowing five unearned runs on five errors.

Cameron Hutchison went 2 for 3.

SOCCER
Manteca 5, East Union 5
Rocio Lopez scored four goals for the Buffaloes, none more important than a breakaway beauty with two minutes remaining.

“We finished up strong, and I’m happy,” Manteca head coach Wilma Gonzalez said. “We had more shots than they did, we just couldn’t get it into the net.”

Rupika Pabla scored Manteca’s third goal to knot it at three apiece heading into the break.

The Buffaloes finished the season 6-5-3 in VOL play and 12-5-3 overall.
