May Day brought plenty of rain to the Manteca area Friday afternoon and it washed away the entirety of the local high school sports schedule.

In Escalon, the Cougars and Indians made it to the second inning of a huge Trans Valley League matchup before the game was rained out.

The contest was rescheduled for Monday at 4 p.m.

Ripon, which is embroiled in a heated battle with Modesto Christian for the second and final TVL playoff spot, needs a win over the Cougars to preserve its playoff hopes.

The Knights never made it to Salida for their matchup with Modesto Christian Friday. If necessary, the game will be played May 9.
More than likely the game will be played, as the Crusaders and Indians are neck-and-neck heading down the home stretch.

Two Valley Oak League softball games were shelved as well: East Union at Weston Ranch, and Sierra at Manteca.

The Timberwolves’ tilt with Manteca was moved up to 4:30 p.m. Friday before being called off, and the makeup is also scheduled for 4:30 p.m. on Monday.

In south Stockton, the Lancers and Cougars will take the field Monday at 4 p.m.
