MODESTO  (AP) — Police are searching for a suspect in the deaths of a man, his girlfriend and a teenage boy, who were found shot to death in a home in a usually quiet neighborhood in Modesto.

Investigators think Edward Joseph Reining, 31, Alyxandra Tellez, 19, and David Siebels, 16, were targeted, and the house showed no signs of burglary, Modesto police spokesman Officer Scott Nelson said in a statement.

“We don’t think this was a random crime,” Nelson said.

Officers responding to reports of a pre-dawn shooting Saturday found the three people all dead from gunshot wounds.

Police said all three were from Modesto but released no further details on the victims, the circumstances of their deaths, or what connected them.

Reining’s father, Robert Reining Sr., told the Bee that his son lived in the home and Tellez may have been staying there.

“All I know is that she, unfortunately, was there at the home last night,” he said.

Robert Reining said his son had moved into the house with his younger brother, and the younger brother’s fiance, both of whom were out of town for the weekend.

He said Siebels was the fiance’s brother and he was also living in the home.

A friend of Siebels, Johanna Rubio, told CBS13 he was a good guy who was serious about school.

“I’m really hoping they catch the killer,” she told the TV station. “I’m hoping that he stays in prison for a pretty long time.”
