A second pickup truck within a 24-hour period was torched in a Manteca early Saturday morning.

Manteca Police spokesman Jason Hensley said shortly before 2 a.m. Saturday officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of Glenn Drive after receiving a report of a second arson in the driveway of a home reported by a witness who was driving by the residence seeing the truck partially engulfed in flames.

Hensley said the motorist stopped his vehicle and woke the sleeping residents and assisted them in putting out the fire. The officer noted that the source of the fire was a plastic gasoline can that had been set on the roof of the truck and set ablaze.

The officer noted that the owner of the truck said that he didn’t have issues with anyone and could not provide any suspect information.

Witnesses to the incident, or anyone with additional information, are urged to call South County Crimestoppers at (209) 823-4636.

Early Friday at 12:18 a.m. two men were seen throwing two Molotov cocktails at a Ford pickup truck that was parked in the driveway carport in the 400 block of Acacia Avenue.

Officers reported that the engine compartment and the cab of the truck were fully engulfed in flames when they arrived on the scene. The two suspects reportedly ran northward on Acacia Avenue and fled in a dark colored SUV, driving off at a high right of speed.
