Ogando pitches 4 2-3 shutout innings for Rangers

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Alexi Ogando pitched 4 2-3 shutout innings, Elvis Andrus broke a scoreless tie with an RBI single in the fifth and the Texas Rangers beat the San Francisco Giants 4-1 on Friday night at Scottsdale Stadium.

Ogando gave up three hits, walked three and struck out three in his first start of the spring. The right-hander is expected to be a long reliever when the season starts, but also could start.

The Rangers scored three runs on four hits off Giants reliever Javier Lopez in the ninth for a 4-0 lead.

San Francisco's Brett Pill homered in the bottom of the inning.
