The spring/summer BMX racing season is underway at Spreckels Park BMX, as great weather and a nice turnout of riders from all over the area brought some great action on Sunday, April 15.
First-time racer Mykael Gampon held his own, racing up a division, placing second in the 16 Intermediate race. The Women’s Cruiser division also put on a great show, with Escalon’s Peggy Miller bringing home another win.
Races are held on Sundays, signup and practice times 11a.m. to 1p.m. with racing starting as soon as possible. New riders are encouraged, as the divisions are based on age and skill level. ABA BMX membership information is available on race day.
The track is located at Spreckels Avenue. There is free admission to spectators, and a $10 entry fee for racing. Participants must have a helmet, long sleeves and pants, and a BMX or mountain-style bicycle. Some loaner equipment is available at the track.
For more information, call the track’s hotline at (209) 603-1670.
