Micke Grove celebrating arrival of 50 Lorikeets; Cinco de Mayo

LODI — Micke Grove Zoo is celebrating colors, culture, and community this Cinco de Mayo.

The Saturday, May 5, event is in celebration of the arrival of over 50 colorful Lorikeets at the Lorikeet exhibit plus the rich and colorful heritage of the Mexican culture. There will be on-going crafts, games, and a half-hour performance by the Ballet Folklorico Raices Mexicanas from 1 to 1:30 p.m.

Visitors are also welcome to enter the Lorikeet exhibit and can purchase Lorikeet nectar for $1 to feed these inquisitive and beautiful parrots.  It is free with the cost of admission.

Located west of Highway 99 between Stockton and Lodi, Micke Grove Zoo opens daily at 10 a.m. Admission is $4  for adults and $2  for those from ages 3-17. Children 2 and younger and members of the Micke Grove Zoological Society receive free admission. There is an additional charge for admission to Micke Grove Park of $5  per car.
