Summer camps on Chinese culture set

STOCKTON — The Zhong Hua Mandarin School offers a weekly program in Mandarin Chinese language instruction in Stockton.

On the final day of class for the Zhong Hua Mandarin School, Saturday, May 19, they will be having special activities. Interested persons are invited to observe classrooms in action from 10 to 11 a.m. Students range from kindergarten to adult age. From 11 a.m. to noon visitors may learn about the language program from school staff. Children are welcome, and pre-registration for the Fall 2012 semester will be accepted.

Visitors will also learn about the Chinese Culture Camp summer program for children entering first through sixth grade in the fall. It will take place June 25-29 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Activities to be offered include Chinese Folk and Lion Dancing; Calligraphy and Brush Painting; Chinese Yo-Yo; Music, Crafts, Abacus, and Cooking. Applications are now being accepted. Teen and adult volunteers are also being sought.

All events take place at the Confucius Church of Stockton, 212 E. Lafayette Street, Stockton CA 95203.
