Weston Ranch had little trouble keeping the Sonora Wildcats in search of their first win on the season, blasting the host Wildcats 14-4 Wednesday in Valley Oak League play.

The Cougars came out with two in the first and jumped out to a 9-0 lead after a seven-run third.

“This was a good bounce-back game after a tough loss to East Union,” Weston Ranch head coach Janelle Bauer said. “We came out and hit the ball well.”

Arianna Hernandez was 3 for 4 with a game-high four RBI, while teammate Raileen Romo was also 3 for 4 with a double.

Sonora pushed across all four of its runs in the third.

Alexandra Alvarado was 2 for 5, while Naomi Thurman and Vanessa Contreras both went 2 for 4.

The Cougars (5-8, 13-10-1 overall) will be back on the diamond in Tracy at 4 p.m.
