Cinco de Mayo celebration set for Saturday at Orchard Valley

Everything from a low rider car show to Mexican bands are part of the biggest ever Manteca Cinco de Mayo celebration taking place this Saturday, May 5, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at The Promenade Shops at Orchard Valley.

Admission is free to the Central Valley Hispanic Chamber of Commerce event taking place between JC Penney and Best Buy in the shopping center at the 120 Bypass and Union Road.

More than 60 vendors - double last year’s event - are offering everything from food to crafts as well as commercial offerings.

The Brown Persuasion Cars of Stockton is staging a low ride car show with at least 50 entries.

There are two entertainment stages.

Among the Main Stage acts will be the Cesar Chavez High School Mariachi performers at 1:30 p.m., the Cebollita Y Rabanito Clown Show at 1:30 p.m., Cortez Musical at 2:30 p.m., and bands from 4 p.m. on including Group Inquietude and Banda Nor Cali.

The Community Stage includes Manteca Martial Arts at 12:30 p.m., Velma Folkloric Group at 1 p.m., Power House dance Company at 2 p.m., Ballet Folkloric de Frank Zapata at 2:15 p.m., and Guadalupe Folkloric Group at 4 p.m.

There will also be kids carnival rides and games.
