Bob Elliott – a retired colonel with the Special Forces – is serving as the grand marshal for the 2012 Memorial Day parade taking place in downtown Manteca on Monday, May 28, starting at 11:30 a.m.

The parade that will go down Yosemite Avenue form Library Park to Manteca High is being staged by the Manteca Chamber of Commerce. There is a $50 entry fee. For more details, call the chamber at 823-6121.

Elliott served for 30 years in the U.S. Army. He is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point. He also had five years of diplomatic assignments with U.S. embassies in Tokyo and Seoul.

He’s worked as a project manager for Westinghouse and GE in nuclear energy and explosives detection.

Elliott is a Tracy City Council member. He is also one of three candidates running for the Board of Supervisors seat representing Manteca south of Yosemite Avenue as well as Tracy and Mountain House.
