The Ripon Senior Babe Ruth team made the trip to Modesto take on the Twins and lost 3-2 Tuesday in a seventh-inning heartbreaker.

Ripon tied things up with a two-out, Elijah English  RBI single, which drove in Zac Carillo in their half of the seventh. Modesto would answer immediately, finishing Ripon up with a Matt Tyler two-out single to win it.

Ripon hurler Tyler Scharnow twirled five innings, allowing just five hits and fanning seven.

Both Mike Leland and Jason Angelo had back-to-back doubles in the fourth, giving Ripon its first lead of the ball game 1-0. Carrillo was 2 for 3 with a run, and both Angelo and Leland were  1 for 2.

Ripon will be back on the diamond today when they travel to Salida to take on the Modesto Christian club.
