Pacific Avenue Bowl

The Pacific Avenue Bowl has been a Stockton fixture since 1958.

Yet not much has changed over the years. Pacific Bowl continues to provide a safe, fun, and friendly environment for people of all ages and backgrounds.

It’s still a place where friends and family meet and socialize.

Pacific Bowl is equipped with state-of-the-art scoring screens.

Leagues for those of all ages and handicapped and disabled programs are available.

Pacific Bowl, in addition, has one of the top junior programs in Northern California.

Cosmic bowling every Friday nights and scratch leagues are also available.

Location: 5939 Pacific Ave., Stockton, at the intersection of West Swain Road.

How to get there: From Highway 99, take the Hammer Lane exit and travel west, turn left, heading south on Pacific Avenue for about a mile.

Hours of operation: Mondays through Thursdays, 9 a.m. to midnight; Fridays and Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 1 a.m.; and Sundays, from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Cost (shoe rental is $3): $2.75 a game per person (Mondays through Fridays, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.), $3.50 (Mondays through Thursdays, 9 p.m. to closing), $3 (Saturdays and Sundays, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.), and $3.50 (Saturdays and Sundays, 9 p.m. to closing).

 West Lane Bowl

Stockton’s other bowling alley has also held up well throughout the years.

Many of the regulars are involved in bowling leagues and tournaments. The coffee shop offering a variety of comfort food is within view of the lanes.

The sports bar continues to be destination for National Football League fans. That’s the unofficial meeting place for area supporters of the Chicago Bears. A local group supporting Dallas Cowboys also calls this place home.

Location: 3900 West Lane, Stockton.

How to get there: From Highway 99, take the Hammer Lane exit and go west, turn left on to West Lane and head south. The bowl is to the left about two blocks after crossing the Calaveras River.

Hours of operation: Sundays through Thursdays, 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Fridays and Saturdays, 9 a.m. to midnight.

Rates: Adults $3, youth (ages 16 and under) and seniors (ages 55 and older) $2.50. Shoe rental $2.50.

 West Valley Bowl

Once known as the Tracy Bowl, the bowling venue on Grant Line Road has been at its current location since the early 1960s.

 It was renamed the West Valley Bowl and remodeled in 2004 not too long after being purchased by the family of Dr. Chemanoor Zacharia.

The West Valley Bowl still has various bowling leagues and tournaments along with promotional events such as $1 Days.

Starting Friday, those bowling from noon to 5 p.m. during the weekdays can pay $1 for shoes and $1 per game, per person, at the 32-lane facility.

 Place: West Valley Bowl.

Location: 2365 East St., Tracy, at the corner of Grant Line Road.

How to get there: From Interstate 205, take the McArthur Boulevard exit and go south for about a mile, turn right on to Grant Line Road. Make a left on East Street.

Cost: $4 a game per person, Mondays through Fridays (Saturdays all day along with all holidays), from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.; $2.50 for shoe rental per person.

How to get there: From Highway 99, exit Tuolumne Boulevard and go east, turn left on to South Ninth Street, go a block north and turn right onto D Street, continue eastbound from there until D Street merges with Yosemite Boulevard. The bowling alley is past El Vista Avenue.

How to get there: From Highway 99, take the Standiford Avenue exit and head east to McHenry Avenue. Make a left turn. The bowl is located between Warren Way and West Union Avenue.
